We are getting closer to graduation and start our career in the actual field. However, working in the real industry might be much harder than we expected it to be. It also means that we need to be ready by gaining more skills, knowledge, and experiences. I have recently been researching some valuable skills and knowledge to be acquired that might increase employability. One of the most fundamental values that I encountered is to develop and display a strong work ethic.

A strong work ethic is a valuable asset that employers from every industry are looking for. A work ethic can be defined as a set of behaviors or values that show employees are dedicated and productive towards their work. Developing a strong work ethic will allow a person to train themselves in forming good habits such as focusing, staying motivated, and many more. However, not everyone knows how to display work ethics naturally. Although most are trying to work with the best ability, someone might have trouble focusing on multiple tasks over time and might have difficulty prioritizing their work, including me.

Here are some of the most crucial points to achieve strong work ethics:

Discipline

With high discipline, it shows great determination and commitment to what they are doing. It includes coming to work on time and finishing every task at the designated time. If you accomplish in being discipline, you will set a good impression on the employer.

Professionalism

Professionalism may sound very broad and complex. However, maintaining excellent professionalism means how an individual displays positive behaviors, attitudes, and values. It includes the way they dress, speak, and carry themselves. These people are respectful to other employees, organized, and set their job as a priority.

Integrity

Integrity is considered to be giving the most significant impact on working relationships. Someone with high integrity reflects on holding high moral principles, such as honesty, politeness, and fairness. According to Robert Shaw, you can earn a certain level of trust if you can achieve results while demonstrating concern for others and acting with integrity the whole time.

A key to developing a strong work ethic is to focus ourselves. Start by setting goals and train ourselves to reach them. This way, all of the journeys will be a habit that can gradually turn you into a better individual. 1) Creating a list of prioritized tasks will also stimulate our minds to focus on accomplishing every tasks on time. It helps in managing your time. 2) Be consistent by continuing to working on getting the best results. 3) Socialize with other teammates or co-workers to strengthen your relationship with others. 4) Always show respect to others. Remember to choose your words carefully, even if you might not agree with their opinions. Avoid negatives talks as this will degrade your professionalism.
